Open on Huntington's official offer page, because the promotion code is claimed from that page when you apply. Copy the lines below from the offer page before you move any money. The page shows two bonus cards, and each has its own test.

Two offers, not one

Perks Checking pays a $400 bonus. 1 Platinum Perks Checking pays a $600 bonus. 1 The headline says "up to $600", which describes the better of the two. 1 It does not mean you can collect both, or that $600 is available on the Perks account. 1 Pick the account first, then read only that account's test.

The Perks Checking test

Open a new Perks Checking account with your promotion code by September 30, 2026. 1 Set up and receive total qualifying direct deposits of $500 or more within 90 days from account opening. 1 Keep the account open for 90 days. 1 The 90-day clock starts at account opening, so the day you open is day one of the window, not the day the first paycheck arrives. 1 Open on Huntington's official offer page and choose Perks Checking to apply.

The Platinum Perks Checking test

Open a new Platinum Perks Checking account with your promotion code by September 30, 2026. 1 Make total new money deposits of at least $25,000 into the new account within 90 days from account opening. 1 Keep the account open for 90 days. 1 Huntington defines new money as money that is not currently on deposit in any Huntington account, except maturing personal CDs. 1 Transfers from another Huntington deposit account do not count as a deposit. 1 The bonus is $600 for that commitment, and the account's own fee waiver is a $25,000 total relationship balance. 1

What counts, and what does not

For Perks Checking, qualifying direct deposits are regular, periodic ACH credits. 1 The offer's examples are payroll, salary, pension, and government payments such as Social Security. 1 The FAQ adds that the source is an employer, payroll provider, government agency, pension provider, or similar source. 1 Deposits that do not qualify are those through the Real-Time Payments network, payments through peer-to-peer networks such as PayPal, Zelle, or Venmo, and transfers from another Huntington deposit account. 1

The Real-Time Payments line is the one to notice. Some other banks count instant payments as qualifying electronic deposits, and Huntington names them as excluded for this offer. Do not assume a rule from one bank carries over. What counts as a direct deposit compares the lists side by side.

Who is excluded, and where

The offer is only available to new personal checking customers. 1 Current Huntington personal checking customers, including anyone with a relationship, including fiduciary, to another Huntington personal checking account, are not eligible. 1 Anyone who closed a checking account within the last 12 months is not eligible either. 1 The offer cannot be used in combination with any other consumer checking offer. 1 Huntington reserves the right to limit an individual to one account-related gift incentive per rolling 24-month period across all deposit account relationships. 1 It also says it monitors for repeated use and may close an account, without a promotional payment, if promotions abuse is suspected. 1 What "new customer" means covers how banks word this line.

The offer is only available to applicants residing in these states, exactly as listed on the page: 1

Alabama, Arkansas, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, West Virginia, and Wisconsin. 1

The promotion code

To be eligible, click Apply Online or Open at a Branch from Huntington's offer page, so that the promotion code is claimed when the account is opened. 1 An account opened from somewhere else, without the code, is a different application. Open on Huntington's official offer page and use its buttons, not a bookmark to a general checking page.

Payout, fees, and when to close

Huntington deposits the bonus into the new account within 14 days of meeting the promotion requirements. 1 The account must remain open, and in good standing, through the qualification period. 1 The Perks fee is $10 a month, or $0 with $1,000 in monthly deposits or a $5,000 total relationship balance. 1 The Platinum Perks fee is $25 a month, or $0 with a $25,000 total relationship balance. 1 The offer page does not print an early-close fee or a clawback period after the bonus posts. Do not fill one in, and read the account's own disclosure before you close. When you can close after the bonus covers the sequence for banks that print no window.

Taxes

Huntington says checking account bonuses are generally considered taxable income. 1 It also says you will receive a Form 1099-INT for the cash bonus. 1 Plan for it as taxable income in the year it posts. Do you pay taxes on bank bonuses explains the form and the timing.

Track the 90 days in CardLab

Log the account opening date in the bank bonus tracker, not the day you decided to apply. The tracker counts the window from that date, so the last day to finish the deposits is easy to see. Huntington pays within 14 days after the requirements are met, so a bonus earned on day 90 can arrive as late as day 104 after opening. 1 The earliest safe close date is the later of two things: the day the bonus posts, and the end of the 90 days. If your terms print a longer period, use that one. For Perks, log each payroll deposit as it posts, and note any that arrived by Zelle or an instant payment, because those do not count. For Platinum Perks, keep the source of each deposit, so you can show it was not already at Huntington.

If you are reading this after September 30, 2026

The offers above were listed through September 30, 2026, on the page we read on 29 September 2026. 1 Check Huntington's current terms before applying. The checklist on this page still applies to whatever those lines say: which account, which test, which window, who is excluded, and what must still be true on payout day.

Common questions

How much is the Huntington checking bonus?

It depends on the account. The offer page we read on 29 September 2026 pays $400 for Perks Checking and $600 for Platinum Perks Checking. They are two separate offers with different requirements, so the $600 is not added to the $400. Check Huntington's current terms before you apply.

What counts as a qualifying direct deposit for the Perks Checking bonus?

Huntington says a qualifying direct deposit is an electronic deposit made through the ACH network from an employer, payroll provider, government agency, pension provider, or similar source, such as payroll or Social Security. Real-Time Payments, person-to-person payments through PayPal, Zelle, or Venmo, and transfers from another Huntington account do not qualify.

What is new money for the Platinum Perks Checking bonus?

Huntington defines new money as money that is not currently on deposit in any Huntington account, except maturing personal CDs. You need $25,000 or more of it deposited into the new Platinum Perks account within 90 days of account opening. Transfers from another Huntington deposit account do not count.

The offer is only available to applicants residing in those states.

When does Huntington pay the checking bonus?

Huntington says it deposits the bonus into the new account within 14 days of meeting the promotion requirements, and the account must remain open. The offer page also asks you to keep the account open for at least 90 days. It does not print a later day when closing is safe, so read when you can close after the bonus and your offer terms before you close.

Is the Huntington checking bonus taxable?

Huntington says checking account bonuses are generally considered taxable income, that it may report the cash bonus to the IRS, and that you will receive a Form 1099-INT for the cash bonus. It suggests you consult a tax advisor about your own situation.

What happens after September 30, 2026?

The offer page we read listed applications through September 30, 2026. After that date, open Huntington's current checking offer page and copy its terms again before you apply, because the amounts and requirements can change.
