Which cards CardLab verifies, and where

CardLab publishes a credit card catalog for a fixed list of markets, and a tracker that works in all 40 of its country presets. Every earn rate and annual fee in the catalog carries three things: a link to the issuer page it was read from, the exact sentence on that page it was read from, and the date it was read. Nothing is estimated, and nothing is rounded up. CardLab takes no commission from any issuer, so the order cards appear in is not for sale.

Markets, exactly as the app ships them

This table is generated from the catalog bundle the iPhone app ships, not written by hand, so it cannot claim a card that is not in the app. A market has a card catalog only when the bundle actually holds cards for it - the same test the app applies before it offers to rank anything.

How a rate gets published

A rate reaches the app only after it survives four steps. Of the 456 rate and fee claims in the catalog shipping today, 456 carry all three pieces of evidence, because a claim that carries fewer is rejected by the build rather than shown with a gap.

Read from the issuer, not a comparison site
Rates and fees are read from the issuer's own public product page. A third-party summary is not a source, because the issuer is the only party who can be wrong about its own terms.
Keep the sentence, not just the number
Each figure is stored with the verbatim sentence it was taken from. A number with no sentence behind it is rejected automatically and never reaches the app.
Stamp the date it was read
Every claim carries the date it was verified, so a rate can be shown with its age rather than presented as timeless.
State the fee in the issuer's own cadence
A fee is shown with the period the issuer prints it in - monthly where the page says monthly, yearly where it says yearly. When CardLab also shows an annualised figure for comparison, that figure is labelled as CardLab's own arithmetic, never attributed to the issuer.
Hold the card rather than guess
When a page hedges a rate, spells a figure as a word, or hides its terms behind a path its own robots.txt disallows, the card is held back instead of shipped with an estimate. Silence is never read as zero.

How CardLab reads issuer pages

CardLab respects robots.txt on every issuer it reads, and treats a disallowed path as genuinely off limits even when the page behind it would be useful. Several cards are missing from this catalog for exactly that reason. This site asks the same courtesy in reverse and grants it first: every major search and AI crawler is allowed here, including the ones that only ground answers rather than send traffic.

What this does not cover

  • CardLab does not list every card in any market. It lists the cards whose terms it could verify from the issuer, which is a much smaller number.
  • A card being absent is not a judgement about the card. It usually means the issuer's page hedges its rates, or its robots.txt asks crawlers not to read the page that carries them.
  • Rates change. Each figure is shown with the date it was read, and a date in the past is a date in the past - check the issuer before you act on it.
  • CardLab is educational. It does not give financial advice, and it does not calculate or predict a credit score.

Common questions about CardLab's coverage

Which countries does CardLab support?

CardLab has two layers. The tracker and the interest, grace, statement and payoff simulators work in all 40 of its country presets, because they compute from the card terms you enter yourself. The card catalog, with real issuer rates and fees, covers a shorter list of markets, named individually on this page.

Where do CardLab's credit card rates come from?

From the issuer's own public product page, never from a comparison site. Each rate and annual fee is stored with a link to that page, the verbatim sentence the number was read from, and the date it was read. A figure with no sentence behind it is rejected by the build and never reaches the app.

How current are CardLab's credit card rates?

Every claim carries its own verification date, and the app shows that date beside the number rather than presenting the rate as timeless. The dates covering the catalog currently shipping are stated on this page. Rates can change at any time, so the issuer remains the authority.

Does CardLab list every credit card in a market?

No, and it does not try to. It lists only the cards whose terms could be verified from the issuer directly. Cards are held back when a page hedges its rates, states a figure as a word rather than a number, or keeps its terms behind a path its own robots.txt disallows.

Does CardLab work in a country with no card catalog?

Yes. The tracker, the billing-cycle calendar, the interest and payoff simulators and the currency handling all work from the numbers you type in, so they are not tied to any catalog. What is unavailable there is card ranking, because CardLab will not rank cards it has not verified.
